Aston Martin’s first DBX rolls off production line

The roll-out of Aston Martin Lagonda Global Holdings PLC’s (LON:AML) first sport-utility vehicle was welcomed with a 2% decline in the luxury car-maker’s share price.

Aston Martin’s DBX began production today and global deliveries are due to get underway later this month.

According to Aston Martin, the DBX “signals a new era” which expands its presence in new markets.

It is also the first Aston Martin to be built in Wales, at a former Ministry of Defence site in St Athan in Glamorgan.

Around 80% of all DBX models are expected to be exported and sold overseas.

“I’m extremely proud of the Aston Martin team who have worked so hard to transform this ex-Ministry of Defence site into a world-class car manufacturing facility, to now be producing cars, it is testament to the resilience and fortitude of everyone at Aston Martin,” said Keith Stanton, interim chief operating officer.

In London, Aston Martin shares were down 1% changing hands at 46.86p.
